Summary  & Application:

A mantra is simply a statement or slogan repeated frequently.

So why is there power in a simple and easily repeatable statement? Our brains love simplicity because complexity burns too many calories and wears us out.

There is so much power in developing mantras or easy to remember phrases for your life and leadership.

Mental Health & Relationships:

  • It helps you with your mental health and your self-talk and it helps you with your relationships and communication.
  • So to help you with your mental health and your relationships, develop a few mantras to help you slow your roll in your thought life so you don’t jump to conclusions and spiral out of control emotionally…and out of control emotions always lead to unhealthy or out of control behavior.

Goals and Culture:

  • Mantras help you with providing clarity of your goals and the culture you want to build within your family or organization. You’ve got to simplify the goal and simplify the expectations of the culture.
  • Build your goals and expectations and then develop an easy to remember mantra to remind your team or employees of those big concept principles.
  • By creating easy to repeat mantras you not only create reminders for yourself and your team, but also battle cries to stay focused on what matters most (your essential rocks) when chaos surrounds you.

Write your mantras on sticky notes and post them around your computer monitor so you see them every day so you remember that you have a choice in what you think…therefore you have a choice in what and who you are.
